About Dr. Alikakos

Dr. Alikakos specializes in providing compassionate, experienced and highly-customized psychiatric and psychotherapy services. She is triple board certified in Adult Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine.  She has extensive treatment experience offering relapse prevention maintenance and medication assisted  treatment with Suboxone® and Vivitrol®.  She is a firm believer of "less is more" when it comes to medications and utilizes genetic testing to help guide treatment for patients that have failed multiple medication trials.

In an effort to stay current with all fields in psychiatry, Dr. Alikakos practices in the emergency, inpatient and outpatient psychiatry settings, outpatient chemical dependency treatment setting and also provides mental and behavioral health treatment in the primary care setting.

 

Dr. Alikakos is the Medical Director at the New York Center for Living, the Medical Director at Realization Center outpatient addictions treatment facility in New York City, and the Director of Behavioral Health Services at Community Health Initiatives, a primary care facility and federally qualified health center in Brooklyn.  She is an Assistant Clinical Professor at Mount Sinai Beth Israel and The Mount Sinai Hospital, and an Attending Psychiatrist at Lenox Hill Hospital. She treats children, adolescents and adults in all these settings. Dr. Alikakos also offers Telepsychiatry Services  to her patients. 

 

Dr. Alikakos has built her private practice with the mission of offering a global and personalized approach to treatment. She offers unique individualized care with psychotherapy, and if needed, medications.  During her free time she enjoys traveling and also focuses on Global Physicians Corps, a non-profit organization she co-founded. She is bilingual in English and Greek, and understands the interplay between one's cultural background and mental health.
